The idea

Cricket has a huge, statistics-literate audience and very few games that reward that knowledge. Snicko set out to be a daily challenge that works for people who follow the sport closely and for those who only know the big names.

Each day a mystery cricketer is selected in each of four formats. Players have up to seven guesses, and every guess reveals clues that narrow down the answer.

What we built

Inside Snicko.

Four daily formats

Independent puzzles for ODI, T20I, Tests and the IPL. The ODI puzzle is free every day.

A clue system built on real statistics

Each guess reveals seven attributes, from country and role to career runs and wickets, marked correct, close or wrong, with arrows on the numbers.

Lifelines

Inside Edge reveals a correct attribute, Outside Edge eliminates a wrong option, and No Ball skips a guess without penalty.

Accounts and a global leaderboard

A free account tracks career strike rate and win streaks, and ranks players on how efficiently they solve puzzles over time.

Archive mode

Past puzzles can be replayed at any time as part of the Snicko Edge upgrade.

A dataset of 845+ players

Modern stars and all-time legends across all four formats, sourced from publicly available cricket records.

Product decisions

The choices behind it.

Snicko covers the full span of a consumer product: an original game design, a structured sports dataset, user accounts, a global leaderboard and in-app purchases, shipped to both the App Store and Google Play.

  • Ad-free and lightweight by design, with running costs kept deliberately low
  • Snicko Edge is a one-time in-app purchase - no subscription and no recurring charges
  • One format stays free every day, so the game is useful without paying
  • An original format, with women's cricket statistics and new puzzle types planned
